Default How to contour cut in Onyx without printing first

Onyx designed Cut-Server to contour cut items you printed from Onyx...which is great, until you need a set of boat numbers cut out of white vinyl or something. And then you're stuck.

How to get unstuck:

1. Create a new printer in Onyx. (We'll call this the "cut prep" printer because we have to call it something.) Just pick one that's as wide as your cutter is; you don't even need the machine for this, and it's better if you don't have it. Set it to print to file, set "Contour Cutting" to the cutter you own, and in its QuickSet be sure to turn on "use contour paths" and "delete job after printing." I also like to have it print the job automatically.

2. Create the cut job in Illustrator in the usual Onyx way, stroking all the paths you want cut with the "CutContour" spot color.

3. Run the job through Preflight for the cut prep printer. When you click "Submit," the job will go to RIP-Queue, process and "print."

4. Open Cut-Server. The job you want to cut will be in there. Load your cutter with media and cut.

5. Weed and put on transfer paper, and you're done.
