Print and Contour cut not aligned

I just finished a seven foot print and when it did the countour cut it missed the print by about 1/4". I'm running an SP300 with the original firmware from four years ago because I could'nt get firmware to download on my computer.
I also tried to print without the contour cut but this time it printed right off the right side of the vinyl on to the machine bed!
I know there are some adjustments that can be made with the owners manual but dose anyone know if one of them will solve this problem?

Search for encoder strip and encoder module- you may need one or both
or need to clean them. I have replaced mine once in 2.5 years and had the
problem last week. I overnighted the parts in (about 300usd for both) and in
the meantime I took the strip and module out and cleaned them and flipped
the strip over by punching a couple of new holes. It is currently working.
