Printer:
Default Used Roland Versacam 540v...

Hi

Just discovered these forums and hopefully they could help me out before going ahead with a purchase of a used Versacam 540v.

As I don't have any knowledge of these printers what do I need to test and look out for when going to view, i.e. is there some sort of standard test print that will test heads and tracking on contour cutting etc...

Does anybody have a PDF of the service manual I could get a copy of?

Thanks

I have had my Versacamm SP540V for the past 3 1/2 years with no problems other than routine maintenance. It has been totally reliable, works first time every time. If you do run into any problems, there is a huge amount of help available on these pages and from the member base.

I suggest that you get a nice high res image with good contrast and get the seller to print it on a number of different materials.

Make sure tat there is no banding on any of the prints. (you may get some on the high speed prints but that is all) Do a test print, make sure all the lined match us. Check the black especially as this head can be affected my misaligned jet due to ink build up on the head.

My printer is very clean. I clean the machine each week and make sure it is in tip top condition. Make sure that the printer you are looking as is clean and looks as though it has been cleaned regularly. You can usually tell if it has been cleaned for the occasion.

I hope this has been of some help.

Neil
