Default ValueJet Subtank Lo Error

Hi, I was hoping someone might have run into this problem and have a couple tricks up there sleeve. I changed and ink cartridge on my VJ the other day (yellow)and have not been able to print on it since. I can see air in the yellow line. I have done numerous cleans on it and everything seems fine until i tell it to do a nozzle check or print anything. It then displays the message "refilling" and then eventually gives me an error saying "E121err SubTankLo Y" It seems as if the dampers are not refilling, yet they seem to be sucking up some waste ink from the cap. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like you have either a 2606 or a 16xx ValueJet.
It is not damper related.
These have 150ml subtanks that are filled by the ink cartridges by way of valves that separate the cartridges from the subtanks.
The valve should open and fill the subtank automatically.
You might have some vapor lock that is keeping the subtank from accepting ink or maybe even a stuck valve. This could happen if by chance you ran the entire yellow ink dry.

Call your dealer and he can walk you through checking the valves.

You might have to put a syringe on it to break the vapor lock.

Thank you Far Side. Yes it is model vj-1604. All the service techs at my dealers are out of town this week. :S IT does sound like vapor lock though. Ive had a similar problem with my Roland once where i put the syringe by the tubes running from the capping station to the pumps and sucked the ink until it filled the dampers. It seems a little more tricky on the VJ though as it is just one head. I havnt opened it up yet. Any hints on what i should be looking for?

Thank you

There are two lines that run from from the capping station pump to the drain.
You can get a y and pull from both or just clamp one off.

the easiest method might be to try and syringe the yellow from just above the dampers.

Default Found the problem

Turns out, I had a bad Solenoid on the yellow tank. Thanks for all your help!

That may not be the end of your problems, make sure a tech thoroughly checks the capping station pumps AND the waste ink lines for any blockage!
