I am trying to find an existing profile for OraJet 3951. I thought that maybe the std. Orajet 720 x 720 would be okay. So I downloaded it, but something is wrong with the profile. It opens up in SoftRip as 360x450, 4-pass. Does anyone have a profile for Wasatch SoftRip, Triangle inks, SP-540V, OraJet 3951?
BTW, I used the typical profile and got some weird banding in parts in some dark green, but no banding in other colors (light green and light blue).

Chris,
Try calling up to Nu-Sign when you get a chance, if there is one they should have it.

Should have clarified...looking for one that is an 8-pass mode. Just downloaded one from Oracal that is for the MAX inks, but it is a 16-pass mode with a head speed of only 600. Would like to see 8-pass with head speed of 760 like the others I've been using. With the 16-passes, seems like you should be able to get a head speed of 1000.
Just tried the Oracal profile and don't like it. Although no real banding, the colors all look muted compared to my std "NuSign" profile. So when making these profiles, how do you determine pass count and head speed?

All of the new profiles I downloaded from Oracal have the Precision Stocchastic Screens, so I wanted to try them, but it is true, they are not complete. The resolution and color profile and head speed all have to be set before you can use them. I was going to suggest they be posted here, but since they take some work, I changed my mind. I also feel that the colors are not quite right for my printing conditions.

You are "supposed" to test how fast you can run the media with a balanced eye toward how well the ink fuses and banding issues. The things that effect these are many - as discussed on this site constantly.
Basicly, you sort out the step adjust first. That way you can tell yourself that any further banding you see is heater related. Then you test for heaters. Everybody has thier own personaly methodolgy for this and the jury is so far out we can't see them. But, think of the effect the heaters have as a balancing act between how hot and how long the media sits over the heaters (passes, bi vs. uni, and head speed). That just about sets you up to start working on the color stuff.
