Fancy name for CorelDraw! 13
15 Day Trial version is available for download at corel.com. It's a 255MB download so you may not want to do it with dialup. I tried it on the slowest network in the world (I swear its slower than a dialup sometimes) and it took FIVE (5) hours to download. Took 5 minutes here.....go figure. It has some additional bells and whistles. There's a "Bevel" feature. Downside of that is the bevels are bitmaps. Reduces your tweaking options a bit. The tracing function seems a lot better than the old trace also. Competing with CS2 no doubt. Haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet. Check the minimum PC specs before you download as it may be too much for some older PCs. Have fun!

I've been very impressed with this new release so far, though I don't use Corel on a regular basis. The new tracing features have blown CS2's live trace out of the water as far as I'm concerned, and I was more than impressed with live trace.

I use Corel all day every day, and am currently trying out X3. I like some of the new features. It handles text better, with more formatting options like you get in Indesign or Quark, and has better file import support. I like the image adjustment lab. CorelDraw has had great bitmap editing support either built right in or linked to PhotoPaint, but it's even more accessible with just this one tool. The split screen feature lets you see your orinial next to your changes, which is nice to have. I like to customize my desktop, which has always caused problems in previous versions. I get the same random crashes and goofy hang-ups as I did in previous versions. It's quite stable if you leave the default desktop setting, but when you change it up a bit, it gets corrupted somehow and funny things start to happen. I really had hoped this would have been taken care of, but it looks like it's not. Remember to save early and often. It's not a major upgrade, but there are some fresh ideas in there. The auto snaps and snap guides are terrific, introduced back in version 12. I still have to say it's a pretty good value for the money. I can not only do my sign layouts, but architectural renderings are a breeze, and vehicle layouts are a snap, plus if I want I can do newsletter and brochure design. Although some of my customers can only supply me with files that I can only open with CS2, so it looks like I will still have to have that too.
