just a quick question, because i'm curious. how many of you guys here handle design as well as print duties? i personally don't, cause' i didn't study textile design. i actually started in fashion and learned that (kinda, i'm a huge dilettante with a short attention span). my duties in my current position are doing the color matching, printing and maintainence. anyone play both sides of the field?

I started with my company as a designer and then took on printing and design work until it got to the point that it had to be one or the other. I took over running our solvent printer. We've now expanded and have 3 printers and I run the department.
I still do minimal design work, but not very often, more just prepress work.
