Default Corel Help...Newbie...

First of all THANK GOD FOR THIS FORUM!!!!!1

Hello everyone. I just got my roland sp300 today...Never worked with corel much either... I have a logo that I want to cut around...

I can write my name for example, then print, cut that no problem. i got the spot color and all that...

Now where Im stuck

The logo is just a red sox logo i want to use on my toolbox(from google images) but how do i add an outline to the image to be able to cut??? Maybe a step by step would be nice.

Im sure this is a simple fix but i cant seem to find how to put an cut line around the image. Thanks alot

James

If the logo is a circle as the ones I found when I had a quick look.
Just use the circle tool, resize the circle to the outside dimensions of the logo.
Select the red sox logo, go to effects go down to powerclips and select place inside container and click on the drawn circle, the logo should automatically centre in the powerclip if the default has been altered. If it doesn't right click on the logo and select edit contents and centre it that way, right click again and select finish editing.

Select the contour cut colour for the outline of the circle.

Export as an EPS. and it should work.

Hopefully this doesn't confuse you to much.

Yes thats how i got it to work on that one...But say the shape is a person(anything not a square,circle...) Then how do you get it to outline the shape when just the circle tool cant be used???
I think ive seen someone select everything and then just drag a box around it and it will auto outline what you have selected? Thanks for your help...

Something like this is what i was asking about now...

Anything not uniform you will have to do yourself by hand. It takes practice but after a while you will be able to do them fairly quickly. For a quick outline around Favre I could get done in a few minutes. Then just powerclip the image into your outline

The easiest way and fastest way i get a cutline around something thats an odd shape is to first group the original make (if its not a jpeg) and copy and past directly over that. If its a jpeg or something, select the second image and trace bitmap (detailed logo works best), once traced delete the parts of the background that you dont want, so that it is just the image left and use the the fill bucket to fill it all in black. Convert this to a bitmap then trace again. The add your cutline color and get rid of the fill... and thats it. If you want the cutline to be slighty outside the image then just add a thick outline at the same time you fill it all in black, then trace.

If that doesnt make sense PM me as i have step by step instructions with pictures that i have made for other employees at my job.

James-

Not sure what Rip you are using, but the videos linked below should give you an idea of how to do what you need in Corel. And yes, this is a blatant plug for the company I work for - forgive me.

Note: their are both AI and CorelDraw videos for both Raster elements and Vector.

Cheers,

Bryan
