Has anybody done the Wastach PRO ll upgrade for ColorRip.
I currently use ColorRip 2.2 and never had a problem except some small issues with banding from time to time. Looks to me this could be a good upgrade. Only $299.00 to upgrade.
Have Flexi but prefer the ColorRip.

I'm looking into it as well. The additional tiling features may come in handy.

Just did the Wastach ColoRip Upgrade and it really works great.
The colors are more vibrant.
The countour cut is better.
If anyone wants to do this I recommend it.

I also have the ColoRIP 2.2 w/o recent firmware upgrade and it still work pretty decent after 4 years but I always wonder what an original Wasatch software could do better or offer more options.

I rarely put my hand in my pocket but when I do it, I'm trying to do it to ease my job or get better results. Both? Sweet!

Lemme know so I could try it myself.

It is basically Softrip 6.3.

One thing I did notice is that it seemed to do a better job of contour cutting.

Had such good luck with ColoRip I never wanted to change, but I feel this is worth the cost.

Remember that the new 16 bit rendering path requires new color profiles to be made. You can still use your existing profiles, but they will not take advantage of the new 16 bit rendering. As with any RIP, when you change any setting that affects the print resolution or dot pattern or ink level, you must create a new ICC profile.

Technically that is not true. 16-bit processing will take effect with your existing profiles. Having said that, I would highly recommend you do create new profiles, and apply your individual ink reductions and do your calibrations in the calibration window and not the halftone properties window.

One caveat: If you are using a fix dot print mode and using light inks (Lc, Lm) then you will want to do your ink reductions and calibration in the halftone properties window and click the 'Fixed Dot Ink Reduction' control.
