Default Importing a PDF into Flexi

I am new to using PDF's and have an issue.

Does anyone know - when I import a PDF into Flexi, why it would change the font from a serif to a sans serif?

The only thing that was noticeable was that it had a kerning issue with one of the letters. I did not notice the font thing until the customer called today and said WTF.

sounds like they didn't embed the fonts in the PDF. Odd since it is the default of most PDF settings to embed the fonts to some degree.

For the future - how would I know if the fonts are embeded? The other issue I had when importing was that on one of the text lines 2 of the letters were touching and should not have. Is there a fix for this so I do not have this type of issue in the future?

That's an indication the fonts aren't embedded.

YOu can check for fonts and many other things by using the Preflight feature of Acrobat Pro. Acrobat Pro and Quite Imposing are 2 indespensible tools in our shop.

whenever I have a problem with a client not embedding fonts etc... I make them convert the text to curves/outlines first - that's pretty much with any vector formats. That way there's no chance of a kerning issue - no chance of it taking my time to fix it.

Converting to outlines is always a good idea. Also, when the PDF gets generated there is a checkbox for embedding the fonts.
