Greetings to all,

I have a customer sending me a file in Photo shop that needs to be contour cut and I need to know how in the world do I do that in Photo shop. All of my work is done in Flexi or Corel draw, I have Photo shop but don't have much experience with it. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Thanks..

Here's what I'd do:

Flatten the psd and save as a tif with the icc profile embedded. Import tif into Flexi, add cut line and proceed as usual.

how can you make a contour cut from a bitmap? This is news to me. Also what do you mean by embedding the icc profile? I need to learn this

You import the PSD into Corel Draw, and either place the contour cut yourself using all the shapes available, or use the tracing function to create the contour you need. Then weld any separate shapes together as needed and set your spot contour color. Export as usual.

Or you can use the wand or trace tool to select the area to cut around, convert that to a path then export the path.
I'd then place the path in Illustrator and position it on the bitmap, guess you can do the same thing in Corel.
