Default Acrobat Professional

How many use Acrobat Pro to handle their preflighting and printing? I'm talking about making PDF files for importing into your RIP, which seems to me has the best color management capabilities. I can make PDF files directly from CorelDraw, but am not sure if it is the best for actually making the PDF files. I don't yet have the program, but am considering purchasing it if it is a better tool for the job. I know that it does way more than I really NEED, but you can never have TOO much horsepower, can ya? Any comments or suggestions?

I use it to easily examine the stuff in files. I check for resolution, color space, embedded profiles, and identify spot colors.

Pretty efficient when the RIP is running and I'm Q'ing up files.

yep ditto to what eye4 said

I pdf everything I print unless they give me an eps or tiff/jpeg
and ask people for pdfs

I use Acrobat Pro with the pitstop plugin, gives you all sorts of options to examine colour spaces, spotcolours and look for problems etc

well worth the money and if you get the CS Suite so you have Photoshop Illustrator and Indesign.. pretty much all you need, and what most design pros use these days
