Default sanity check on pricing

My first digital job so I want to make sure my prices are in line.

14 - 24" X 24" coroplast, print mounted to both sides - $40.00 each

9 - 6" x 24" coroplast print on both sides - $12.00 each

Is this reasonable

When I had my printer I was getting $7.00 dollars a square ft. wholesale, and $11-12.00 a square ft retail, you might want to do some calling and see what your other sign shops are charging!

Thanks Chris. Did you give volume discounts? Did you charge the same print for 2 sided prints with the same image on both sides? Did you charge more if you had to mount the print to a substrate?

Sounds a little low, but not to bad. At $7 a sq foot that would be $56 just for the prints without the mounting.

Now Coroplast is a hard one because a lot of people are just not willing to pay a lot of temp sinage.

All I know is that small jobs will kill you with sq ft pricing. You have to price them by time, so a small sign is never leaving my shop for less than $30.00 or we lose money in the long run. How do you account for the time to get the job via e-mail or phone, then dealing with a file and lastly the cost to invoice and the cost for accounting. Maybe $30.00 is just to cheap for anything these days.

HI Barry,

Thats why I charge a set up fee of $50. Just had to do a tiny job, some address and logo stickers for brochure holders (20) at the sq.ft.charge only would have been under $20 and I had to apply the stickers as well....

I guess it depends on your market and your customer base. There is no one formula that will work for all of us or for every sign. I still like pricing things against how I would price using simply vinyl cut graphics with weeding and masking which we still do quite a bit of still.
