Ok looking at the thread on sq.ft. pricing it looks like most charge from 7.00- 12.00 sq. Im trying to get a general price list for printing and wondered how the ones laminating price for that? Also when contour cutting you have the waste at the start and end for reg. marks and feeding the vinyl back in after laminating. So do you adjust for the extra usage because that wouldnt be a part of a print sq ft. Also it takes the time to take it from your printer and line it up laminate and then cut. What are yall getting for cast prints with laminate and contour?? I see it would run about 600.00 just for a roll of 3951 and cast laminate at 30"x164'. Cant afford to wast much of that!!

What all are you planning on using 3951 for?? The only time we use that expensive stuff is vehicle wraps, and we make way more than the $1.46 a sq/ft it cost with laminate.
What we have worked out for laminating is to charge an additional amount per sq/ft, since the laminate is used based on the amount of vinyl used. For contour cutting, for now we are charging a flat fee. |

I have built all this into my new pricing software (the Pro version). That doesn't mean it's fool-proof, but at least you don't have to think about it and I'm pretty confident you will always make money on a job.
In regards to the 3951, I have a couple jobs coming up that aren't wraps, but they do have rivets. Seems like the 3651 isn't a good choice, but the 3951 seems like overkill. Anyone have experience with something like the 3751 (which is hard to find a vendor that carries it)? If using the 3751, do you still use the 290 olam?

Well what im looking for is longer term vinyl (cast?) for fleet graphics. Something that you would want to get as much life out of as you can. Right now all I have used is 3651 with a laminate that Im not sure of manufacturer cause it came with laminator. Hey Matthew, so what is your retail pricing?? Laminating, contour??

I don't really see any advantage to using 3751 as opposed to 3651. Oracal uses some misleading nomenclature when call 3751 a "Premium Calendared Film". If it is calendared, it is not premium in my book. If you want premium vinyl, go with the 3951. Otherwise, stick with the 3651. Also, I wouldn't use the 290 lam (cast) with the 3751 (calendared). You are asking for shrinkage/adhesion problems. Just my 2 cents worth.
As for contour cuts, we currently add 10% to the total cost of the print (and lam if applicable) for the contour. I would be interested to hear how others are pricing this. |
