Default Taking out rivets?

Has anyone, when doing a trailer wrap, ever taken out the rivets and put them back in after each panel is installed? Mainly this is on those trailers that have those starburst rivets that take a hex screw to get them out. They are taller than most rivets and I'd rather take them out versus go over them.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Chris

We always take them out- it takes a #2 square bit- pretty common. If they
don't come out first try- give them a good rap (square on) with a hammer to
soften them up a bit and then firmly tap in a bit that has the end of the tip ground off a 1/64th of an inch (I spin the drill against a running grinder and it
doesn't seem to affect the temper). Gene

The liability of removing rivits in more than I want to assume. Use a premium grade wrap and wash down the rivits with Pro Bond, heat and add pressure with an old tennis ball.

Rivets don't come out. Those can be cleaned and wrapped. Those self-tapping screws need to come out. Vinyl does not stick the the coating very well. And they have way too much profile. Installation is so much easier with them out of the way. Speaking of which, I have a 16' trailer to do this afternoon. I don't even want to think about how many of those things I'll be taking out.

Just remember to add a little Loctite to make sure they stay put once the are back in place. I know it adds a little extra cost to everything, but I would rather take a few extra moments and cents to safe me the headache with the customer later when they start to fall out on them.

Happy printing!
