Curiosity makes me ask, what is the average salary for someone who works on a printer? Assuming you do the graphic design, print, application, packaging, et cetera? What would you generally expect to make per hour? per year even?
I've heard anywhere from $12-$22 depending on experience. But, lets hear from you guys.... |

This is a loaded question. It depends on the area of the country you work, the size/sales of the company, the experience you have, the skill level and a lot of other factors. Take for instance my postition; I'm the creative director of a small shop that has 13 employees. I'm responsible for the marketing, overseeing all design done in-house, deciding on which materials to be used, sales, meeting with clients, and a couple other hats. Knowing other people in my same position at different companies, the salaries range from $35K to $80K per year.

I do the printing, design, finishing, printer maintenance and any IT work here. I get a grand total of $13.50/hour. I'm considering waiting tables though (seriously)

I also do the prepress, design, printer maintenance, material ordering, IT, really... anything to do with printing digital. Also, I do regular cutting/weeding/applying of vinyl too - and fabrication on pvc or aluminum. and I get $11/hr :-/

I see most top production people making between 15-20/hr. Bear in mind that the list of your responsibilities and how well you do them are seperate issues
![]() I could have one person who deserves half compared to another for the same responsibilities.

Eagle beat me to it.. All along I thought I was just doing this for fun!! lol
In my area in Michigan the pay is terrible. I am a very well qualified degreed designer with about 8 years total experience that has been running my own shop and the last job offer I received was $12.00 an hour.. I'll just keep struggling along on my own for that. Thanks, Kurt |

I've always wanted to work for myself because I always thought my boss was an a--hole.
Even so, my boss would still be an a--hole, but I'd respect him, :-P Well, time for a raise then, I'm having fun and all, but I'd like to have fun with more money! ![]() |
