Default Yesterdays Job.

Well this was really a free-bee for a friend of mine entering a all Ford car show. Since the car show is so close to Halloween they have a car costume contest. He took first place with this little Gem.. Printed on Oracal 3164 unlaminated since this will come off in a couple of days.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos as I did not take them, Ill probably get some better ones here in the next couple of days.

Barry- Is the flag on the roof wider than your 30" printer?? Also when you do laminate, what do you use? Do you need a different laminant for different vinyl (cast or calandered)- is there a middle ground that would work for both?

John,

The flag is something like 29"x36" so it was pretty easy to do on my versacamm. If I would have had a bigger machine I would have made it a few inches wider.

As for lamination, you should generally stick with the same type of film for lamination as your vinyl. Most manufactures have suggested laminates for each grade of vinyl. If you try putting cast laminate over calendared vinyl you could run into some problems as each material will shrink at different rates.

Generally with the Oracal Calendared films I will use either the 200,210 or 215 series laminates.

looks like the red parts on the flag were just cut out , were they ? or is the printed vinyl that shiny ?
If it was cut out that part should have been bright red, not the tomatoe/orange red from the car.

Yeah it cut out. I didnt want to try and apply a big piece of 3.75 mil vinyl over the curved roof of the car. This was Oracal 3164 which does not conform well.
