Default HP 5000 problem - long thread

I need help with this sudden problem. Our HP Designjet 5000ps has been a complete work horse for years with no problems at all. Recently the printer would give an error message on startup (0d0000 033f019c), we could press enter and move on. It then came up with message to replace all printheads. When I go into the printhead menu and pull up each individual printhead, they are all "in warranty" but it still says to replace them. The printer will no go beyond this point and will not print.
I contacted a local HP tech and he said to update the firmware. I can't get to ready mode so this is not an option. I ordered a new hard drive from HP, installed it and still have the same problem so the firmware is not the issue.
I tried starting up the printer both with/without paper loaded. With paper loaded it says "media profile not found, remove paper". This comes up with both hard drives. Without paper loaded it just comes up with the message to replace the printheads.
I noticed a nick in the ribbon cable that runs behind the printheads. Could this be causing the problem?
Thanks for any help

I'm not sure but mine (non PS model), comes up with the replace printhead blip quite often. I basically hit the replace button, pop them out and back into the carriage and everything seems to be fine. Often, after I do this, it still tells me to replace the cyan printhead, which I pop out and back in, and we're good to go. I have no idea why this happens but it's quite consistent on my unit.

I'd saw one of my regular color customers have this problem and it turned out to be the 3rd party ink cartridges/heads they were using.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I've tried removing/replacing the printheads and it will say "ok" on the menu as each one is replaced and then immediately goes back to "replace printheads" on the menu once they are all in.

Do you think the trailing cable could cause this if it has a worn spot? It looks like it's rubbing on the drive belt.
HP's approach is to just start replacing parts and that gets expensive.
Thanks again for any help.

Oh yeah I have to do this occasionally too. It's a "feature".

Just go ahead as if you're replacing the heads, pull them out and pop them back in and you're good to go.

Sometimes just rebooting the thing works too.

*edit*

I just googled this too:

System Error: 0D0000 (Continuable)
Problem
Description:
No Media Profiles Available.
Corrective Action: Download a media profile for the ink type being used.
System Error: 0D0000 033f019C
Problem
Description:
No Media Profiles Available.
Corrective Action: If you upgrade the firmware while media is loaded, you will get the
system error "0d0000 033f019C". In this case, press Enter and you
will get the message "no media profiles available". The solution is
to unload the media and switch the Printer ON and OFF again.
NOTE This problem only appears when you try to upgrade from Non-
UV ink firmware to UV ink firmware while the media is loaded.
