Printer: Canon IPF 8000
Default Printing on Rice Paper

I have been asked to print graphics on rice paper. Has anyone ever printed on rice paper with the pigmented inks of the Canon IPF 8000 with very good results? I would like to know if it is possible to even print on this paper with out causing problems with the printer itself.

I did search for this information but found nothing.

Thanks for the help.

Default Rice Paper?

We have an 8100 in our shop. It isn't much different than the 8000.

I've printed on 18# Transbond. That worked just fine, but it was for site plans and architechural drawings, not a lot of ink coverage.

The transbond was made for ink jet though, so it was supposed to work.

Have you tried loading it to see if it jams or wrinkles when the machine first sets itself to new media? I'd set it for CAD tracing paper and see.

Let me know how you come out.

I've attempted to print on rice paper with other water based printers with dismal results.

What you may want is to find someone local with a high quality UV cure printer.
