Printer: HP XLJet, Lightjet, Arizona 600, FJ600, Epson 9800
Default Pimp my shop

My company is looking to expand our capabilities. UV flatbed capability is a must and low ink cost is a high priority. As far as flatbeds go, Our 2 biggest competitors have a Durst Rho and a Oce Arizona 250gt. I love the output and reliability of the Durst but ink cost is too high.

Please don't worry about including rips or cutting tables. Our budget is around $250K. Spend it all at once or spread it out

Here is our current line up:

Kodak Nexpress 100
Roland FJ600 (HiFi Jet Pro)
Epson 9800
HP Scitex XL1500 (16')
Oce Lightjet 430
Oce Arizona 600 (This is going bye-bye and a replacement option is needed)

FYI - We are currently looking at Grand Innovation's Jeti X-2 and a Mimaki JV33.

Printer: HP, Epson, Roland, Gerber Solara Ion
Default UV Flatbed

Where are you located? I know of a local dealer on the West Coast that will be carrying a Gerber Solara Ion. I think List price is under 90 grand (Including RIP), and bundled with the M series cutter its around 125,000. I am looking into UV printing since I do a lot of double sided sintra and styrene prints. Right now I'm mounting everything, but this would eliminate mounting period. And I heard that with this printer you can immediately flip over your prints to print on the other side without having to worry about ink scratching or smearing off. Sounds pretty cool. Different inks meaning its much safer.

I am in Orlando Fl. The Ion is one of the printers I have been reading about. I have not seen one in action and I am reticent about being an early adopter of cationic inks. Nevertheless, I could be convinced. I sent a request for samples to Gerber.

Gandinnovations seems to make a quality piece of equipment from everything
that i have read on them. We had a preowned INCA Eagle H, and were extremely happy with it. Contact your local Sericol rep. i believe they have a
some available.

We have a couple Gandi Flatbeds. Great machines....

They have a new super hi res flatbed out now.
It's called the Nanojet http://gandinnovations.com/index.htm
Seems like a good replacement for a Lightjet.

We are replacing our Lightjet also. We have opted for the HP/Scitex XP2700
UV roll to roll 800x 635 dpi at 1200sfh.

We are keeping the lightjet but the Arizona has got to go. I am going to drop a Mimaki or Roland in its place. The flatbed will be an added machine to round out the shop. My company bought 2 Jeti X2s for other locations but they are not liked for some reason. Its a learning curve thing I guess. Thanks for the tip on the Nanojet. I'm going to call my rep and get some samples.
