Hi there!
If've got 9840 + Kodiak RIP software and since the day one i'm suffering for some issues. 1/ sometimes it prints jobs shorter then should be despite the fact that dimensiones are fine for ex. when i'm printing one job in 3 copies 2 of them are fine but 3rd is shorter for about 10mm - media type and size are exactly the same 2/ jobs has to be much smaller (especialy at lenght - 10-12 mm) than print area when printing edge-to-edge with margins at 0 and overprint 2mm 3/ from time to time when printing is finished and media is out i get notify that there is for ex. 30 cm remaining (of course lenght measured by printer and lenght of media are the same) has anyone had the same issue or know the solution, get any tips or advices ? thanks for your help ![]() ps. sorry for my english it's not my first language |

We have that problem occasionally as well on jobs with multiple copies. I have not been able to find a solution to the problem, but it does not happen every time. I also know that it's not the RIP as it happened when we first got ours and were using Kodiak, and we've now been running it on Onyx for the last year and we still run into this problem occasionally (prints being short).
As far as the edge to edge prints, we've never had make an image smaller, we just make sure that it has the proper bleed in the file that match the printer, and we have no problems. Hrm...will keep thinking.

Thanks for reply and suggestions. I'm still fighting with 9840. First I thought that this problem is linked with dirty belt but i clean and nothing changed. Now i'm going to reinstall Kodiak - maybe something wille change.
UPDATE: reinstallation doesn't help. Termporary solution: we r using small pvc sheet to make material longer than it is in real - helps. My guess is that issue (to short prints) is connected with a/sensor error or b/an firmware malfunction or c/there is a mess in prtin options Last edited by rol3x : 01-11-2008 at 09:16 PM. |

Are you running the latest firmware?
When loading the media, say it is 48" long, have you tried just inputting 49" so the printer thinks it's longer?

Yes, the lastest.
You know when i put 49" instead 48" the job size isn't a problem (i can put real media size as job size) but the comes another issue prints are being shorter (cut by printer) for about 1-2". It seems there is a problem with media/image snesor becouse when we put stripe of material which is going after base media (printer thinks taht media is longer) everything is ok. I know that it's hard to understand but belive me it's also irrational for me. Tomorrow service technican is coming. I'll see what he say about that issues. |

Hopefully the technician gets it straightened out. I hear rumor from a Vendor as well that HP is going to be coming around to 9840 owners in the next few months with upgrades and firmware updates as well as changing out the official name on the printer. Will actually be called an HP DesignJet something I'm told.
