I know the Epson 1800 and 2400 have the pigmented inks and the 1280 has Dye inks, but can you change the 1280 over to pigment inks? Something tells me that you can't, because it doesn't have seperate color cartridges.

It can be done with a bulk ink system such as below..

If epson doesn't make cartridges with pigmented ink, your only other option would be a third party bulk ink system, if its even available for that model.
