Default Summa S-Class Plotter

I know this is off topic, but I need a to buy a plotter. I know I could just get a graphtec fc7000 and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper too, but I'm told that the registraton of the optical eye is not accurate in long runs. I am told the summa s-class is a far supperior product. My only problem is, I dont know anyone who has one, anywhere i can demo it, and nowhere ( besides their own online shop) to purchase one. Anyone hear anything about this cutter?

I'm running a T1400 and it's a good machine had it for about 3 years now and never had any problems with it.. Opitcal cut work very well once you get the hang of it.

I've got a Summa S75 and it is great. Very fast plotter and tracks straight. I've got an older Summa plotter and this thing is probably 4x faster. It even has a LED screen for your controls. Any questions let me know.

I just bought a Summacut 120SE a couple of weeks ago, looked at the S class but don't cut much vinyl these days so the thing won't get that much use really. I'm impressed with it nonetheless, the optical eye works well for print/cut jobs which is why I got it. Has cut 2.5metre jobs no problem.
If you cut vinyl all day every day the S class would probably be worth the extra.

We have the S160D... worth every penny. Have in th epast used many plotters including graphtech FC7000 and FC5100, ioline, Summa T750, D750, D60... the new S series is in a league of it's own. Make sure you need the performance because you're going to pay alot for it. If you don't do a huge volume of contour cutting or vinyl cutting it may not be cost effective, but to me it was worth every penny, it tracks extremely straight, is as fast as I could imagine a plotter being (we run it at full speed), and the contour cutting with OPOS X is always dead on even on very very long 15-20'+ contour cut jobs. PM me if you want more info.

I finally found a vendor that can get me a S-class cutter. What is the difference between a S-Class and a say the SE. I dont cut vinyl all the time, but I dont mind paying the extra if the S-Class is REALLY worth it. I just dont want problems when i'm trying to contour cut liike a 100 foot roll or something. Also, anyone using this with onyx cutserver??

Where are you located? You're more than welcome to come demo mine if you'd like (I'm sure you're too far from me to really do that). Whether you go with the Graphtec, the Summa SE, or the S class, they will all get the job done. I've owned all three and I'm pretter confident saying the S class will get the job done quicker, more accurately, and with less frustration and ruined prints than the others. REALLY worth it is a matter of oppinion, to us it was worth it. I've been there and done that with other plotters and I just don't think they've got it figured out quite like Summa has with the S class. I've had mine for about 6 months, longest contour job was 32' (coincidentally that was last week... 1000 decals on a 54" roll) and it cut without a single problem, every decal was perfect. I've only had one job ruined and that was because I carelessly loaded the media and it was just crooked enough that by the time it got to the end it went out from under the pinch roller. Otherwise, no problems. We use Cutserver and the two work together flawlessly. I never even read the manual, just plugged in the plotter and started contour cutting. No complicated setup, not calibration, just go. It's awesome.

yep use the 120SE with Cutserver no problems at all, not 100% accurate but pretty good with some bleed over the cutline

I decided to get the D140SE instead of the S-class. Mainly because you guys convinced me that a S-class is overkill for how much I use it. I just updated my postershop 6.5 to productionhouse 7. Anyone having problems with cutserver on 7 ? Also, can you guys give me your vendor info of where u got the plotter? I'm trying to get a decent price for it. Thank alot guys!
