Default HP5500 - Onyx Varware mode...

I have a question about Onyx and a HP5500.

I want to use the Varware mode in Onyx, so I can determine print settings, but when I start a profile with varware mode, the printer blinks recieving, then nothing happens, and the file being sent over ends up in the "printed" que with no error or anything like that.

If I use any any of the modes the printer offeres (productivity for instance), everything prints fine and there is no problem. I have used the "varware mode" before without problems... just wondering what could be causing this.

Has anyone seen issues like this from Onyx/HP before?

I think it can happen if you choose pigment and you are actually printing with dye inks.. something like that rings a bell
I think you get less banding with the non varware modes anyway

Bug in ONyx. Just use the non-varware mode and don't obsess about the settings. How you do the profiling process is more important than tweaking the nozzle's heat settings and the other relatively unimportant bits.

This statement is 100% accurate. Not necessarily your problem but it is true(ask how I know )

I used both standard and varware modes with no problems so I won't be much help though.

What version are you running?

If it truly is a bug, let me make sure it's logged already and in their issue database.

Default Is it worth the hassle?

I'm running version 7.x

I believe running in Varware modes can work effectively if you've got a great profile. I noticed that subtle changes in our shop's humidity affected the quality to a greater degree when running in Varware. But not with all my profiles.
