Can someone explain to me the proper way to use the stupid heater on the 5500..
If I put it on Auto, it never comes on.. if I use the manual settings sometimes it comes on but then doesn't seem to shut off, and then the fan runs constant.. |

Auto setting works with predefined combinations only. One i can remember is scrim vinyl at Draft mode.
You can manually set it. But know that it doesn't play the kind of roll a heater does for solvent. All you're really getting out of it is a bit of extra drying power. If you media works well with the ink, you should not need it at all when printing Productivity, Production, or High Quality.

I find that some of the darker colors stay abit tacky, this becomes a problem when printing large images that end up on the take up spool, ocasionally the darker colors will stick to the back becasue they haven't dried properly.

The only drying problems that I've had with my HP is when using the UV inks. Certain materials just do not like the UV ink (especially the Black ink). When I have had problems on UV compatible materials it was always when I was printing at Maximum Quality. Lowering the print quality setting down one solved the problem. I leave my heater setting on Auto (and yes, it never comes on.)
