Default Dye or Pigment Printers?

By definition, what would be considered a printer in this catagory? Typical, wide format inkjets such as those by HP, Epson, etc?

Yes the HP's and Epsons would fit this catagory.

Our old Colorspan falls into the category as well.

We are actually looking at getting an Epson printer later this year.

Speaking of wide format printers......HP is offering rebates on wide format printers until October 15th.

"Rebates of up to $2,000! During the HP Cash In & Trade Up promotion, purchase or lease a new HP Designjet 4000, 5500 or 1000 plus series printer, then trade in your old qualifying large-format printer, plotter or vinyl cutter, and get up to $2,000 back. We have also increased the rebate values for HP Designjet 5500 series printers! HP will even pay for the return shipping costs of your trade-in product."

That promotion ended on July 31. We are a HP dealer if you are interested in a printer.

Colorspan has a customer loyalty program that runs through August 31. If you own an old Colorspan thermal printer that still works, you can trade it in on a new Colorspan solvent or uv printer and receive a $6,000 credit off the printer. A second promotion states that if you trade in your 36" wide or larger solvent or eco solvent printer on a new Colorspan solvent or uv printer and receive a $9,000 credit off the printer. thats a great deal!

Except that I feel our Mimaki is worth more than $9000, maybe not. Do you think they would let us trade in our old Displaymaker and the JV3 for a combined savings??? Then it might be tempting, especially if the UV inks are as flexible as I have heard they are.

I'll check and see. You never know if you don't ask. We do have a customer with the UVR who does vehicle wraps with it. I called and talked with Colorspan and they said "yes" the UV inks really do work for vehicle wraps. That makes the UVR a pretty powerful machine! Call me if you want to talk at length. 206-407-3311
