Remember that the top roller is tapered- wider in the middle than at the ends.

If you are going to go cheap buy this laminator (a little off topic I know)
NEW 63" Power Cold Roll Laminator mounting printing
I bought one from ebay for 1595 it works ok the only issues I have with it is the backing liner must be rolled up manually because the backing is to slippery to create enough friction to roll itself also when feeding rolled print set it on top of feed roller not on it this way it will create just enough friction to keep the print tight. The laminate will not tighten on the role clampies they use so I had to rig it up to hold the roll and create enough drag to hold the laminate tight. When I am tightening the rollers down there is a spot just before u get to tight that the roll tensionrs spin freely I tighten just to that point and then just a tweek this will then laminate perfectly until my alignment gets so far out I have to start over usually after 30 or 40 feet.

Sorry its been a while since ive been on here, The Push/Pull meter that the Tech Support Guy at RS suggested is made by Imada. and looks like this http://www.checkline.com/mechanical_force_gauges/FB

I think mine cost around $500

Both NEPCO and RS have been useless in fixing my issues, after 6 months of fighting with both of them I have been in touch with a Lawyer.

We did the manual pressure adjust/tweak/fine tune thing the previous poster did and now we run full printed rolls with almost no problems. For the $, we think it's a great value.

The downside we've seen are very weak takeup motor gears. We've gone through 3 in 2.5 years. RS acts like we're the only ones. I find that hard to believe. Especially since they've beefed up the gear this last time around.

But again, i'd buy another one if i needed it. Otherwise, i'd go big and get an AGL. No better machine available.

We also have performed the manual adjustments to the machine and have got it to work ok, not 100% but enough to get by. after we got this to work we then took readings with the push pull scale and got the following readings left to right 11 16 20. So the right side of the machine was pulling nearly twice as hard as the left which even though it worked down the road would wear exesively on that side and eventually ruin your rollers.

I bought the 1400C and have been using it with no adjustments for a couple
of months- so maybe they are not all shipped without adjustments. I haven't
even had the covers off! It is much more simple than the 41" heated machine
that we had and is easier to web- which my daughter appreciates. Bottom
line- it works for us. Gene

We did have our local dealer set ours up and maybe the adjustment was included in that service. We haven't had one issue with ours in the first year. We haven't even messed up one job on it yet.
