So I am getting horizontal banding in my blacks. The banding appears to be light banding, and not dark banding. I assume I set my black restrictions/advanced limits in onyx too low.
Does this mean I need to go back and completely redo my profile? FWIW, I tried using total ink limits of 280, and 400 on this profile and had the same issue with both ![]() |

Also, If my total ink limit was too low, then why wouldn't it just look like light black everywhere instead of light/dark banding?

Ok, so the banding in question in on our canvas (all of wich gets laminated). Anyways, we decided to laminate our roll of print anyways because we figure some of the prints would still be ok. It seems the banding totally disappears during lamination???
Now I am questioning if it is worth going back and increasing my black restrictions since all of our canvas printing gets laminated anyways. My new profile has 5% larger gamut volume while using farrrrr less ink. I guess the banding is acceptable? |

I'll wager it's a printer or heat problem, not the profile directly.

No heaters. But I wonder what problem with the printer could cause this.
All new heads too. |

Could this black banding be a result of bi-directional printing and the order in which the printer is laying down ink?
Perhaps I should only be using single direction printing for best results? |

uni-directional is a good test. But your printers control the step adjust (feed rate) and it could easily be off. See if there is something onboard to automatically or manually calibrate the feed.
