The calibration that runs during every media load isn't done with a printed target, but I did calibrate the step adjust using the printers target.
Anyways, out of curiousity , are there any benefits to bi-directional printing other then speed. If quality was your ^only^ consideration, would you be printing 100% uni-directional? This is directed towards pigment printing (no heaters) |

In theory, bidirectional is as good. Of course the reality is that if you eliminate having to time dots in each direction, things come out better.
Correct me if i'm wrong but you printers do their own bidi calibrations pretty well don't they?

Yea, as far as I know. But I am basically just grasping for anything close to a solution now. This problem has been going on since day one, and seeemingly nothing will fix it. |

Youre using HP Z series arnt you? We experienced that problem on the Z3100. Weird black banding, and we couldnt get it to go away. We even had HP come look at it, replace all of the printheads and clean it. They couldnt figure it out either. The problem existed in HPs own drivers when the image was sent directly to the printer as well as through the windows drivers. I tried profiling it though Onyx, with out luck and all of the canned profiles stunk.
End of story? We sold it. The 3100 is not a production printer, and we were printing on it most of the day, 5 days a week.....like a production printer. The Z6100 on the other hand is a CHAMP! and I hope thats not the one you are having problems with.

Yep, 6100. Still an issue. I've tried everything I can think of trying. |
