Wasatch doesn't actually do any profile building. It just has a place to measure the initial calibration curves, and another to make updated readings. You will need the Eye One Match or Profile Maker.

Hi Gene-
This is Bryan w/ Wasatch. We have spoken in the past. No, you will not be able to use a profile created with Flexi with our product. The halftoning method that Flexi uses is different form what we at Wasatch use. To create a custom profile that works with Softrip you will need to print the patches in Softrip then scan them in using the profiling software that you have available ( ie. profiler, profilemaker, or I1 proof ). Hope this helps. Good luck with the profiling, I am always happy to hear our customers are taking their color destiny in their own hands. It is not that scary, trust me. Cheers, Bryan |

So I do or do not need i1 match or profile maker? It appears that i1 proof is about $1500+ whereas profilemaker is $3k+. Can someone break this down for an old fart whose brain cells suffered heavily thru the 60s (and 50s and part of the 40s... god that sounds old). Thanks Gene PS nice to talk to you again Bryan- you greased me through quite a few problems while I still had a service plan. ![]() |

i1 proof will get the job done nicely. Profilemaker is the full boat, mac daddy suite of 4 applications that allows you to go wild about every little detail. For most folks it's overkill and the i1 proof will make you a very nice profile without a lot of fluff.
What you're really going to need is some knowledge on the process of making a media profile. Either from your own trial/error and asking questions or hire someone to walk you through it and explain the how and why of each step. Just having a toolbox doesn't make me able to build a house. In fact i can hardly make a box.

Sorry, my bad for the confusion. Clearly I meant to type i1 proof - not i1 match. It was the end of a long day.

Wasatch has a pretty good tutorial on their website. It covers the basic steps. The only part missing is the specifics in the Eye One Match software.
