Default Which Eye-One?

We borrowed a friends EyeOne a while back and tried to make our own profiles in flexi. We failed. We want to try it again and purchase an EyeOne and just need to know which one. I have heard the "Design Package" or EyeOne "Proof" will work. What can you recommend. I do not want to spend anymore than I need to for a bunch of features I probably will not use. Once again, we will be using color profiler inside flexi and we want to build profiles for a Mimaki JV3-160SP and a Colorspan 5465. Also, do you know a good place to buy it? Thanks in advance.

EyeOne Proof, UV version if you plan to make your ICC within Flexi, non UV if you plan to make the ICC within the EyeOne software.

As a shameless plug, i'd be more than happy to provide you with one. We're an X-Rite dealer. Just let me know how we can help.

I would be interested in purchasing from you. I have found them cheaper online, but would you be willing to help out if we have any questions while we are trying to build our profiles? We posted a month ago that we tried setting up profiles and it didn't work. I think you responded to my post. I think we may have been using an eyeone design.

When I say "cheaper", it wasn't whole lot. I would rather support you and this sight since I use it often. Just wondering if you could help out with a few questions if we get hung up.

Well, this becomes a tough question. As you can see from my regular posts here, I'm happy to help as much as I can. What I can't do is train you unconditionally until you get a good profile. That could become full days on the phone and is obviously unreasonable.

I know right now you're thinking "it would only be a couple of questions". Then this forum is an appropriate place for those type of questions. To try to troubleshoot your whole process and workflow without being there is impractical.

I don't want to sound like I don't want to help you. I just hope you can understand that this stuff isn't always easy and just selling a software/hardware package doesn't include training.

On the other hand, if i go onsite to train someone, they have support for life. That way i know what they are doing, how they are doing it, and what information they've been exposed to. Funny thing is, after an onsite training, it is very rare to get a call because i strive so hard to make sure they're self sufficient before i leave.

I hope you understand not only my position, but the position of everyone who sells this equipment.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. We went through flexi instructions and everything seemed to work great until we tried the final profile. Like I stated, we tried it with, what I think was the Eyeone design package & the colorspan 5465. Could it have been the wrong eyeone that caused the problem? The only other thing that we didn't fully understand was when we were prompted to print the cyan, yel, mag, black strips and choose which look the best to get our ink limits. Basically, we would have to guess which we thought it should be. We thought this might have caused us to end up with a crummy print. Everything was real dull looking and just didn't look right. That is really my only questions. (So Far I guess). If you have time to answer these, I greatly appreciate it.

It sounds very likely your ICC target was an RGB based target. What you need is a CMYK based target. This is one of the reasons for the differences in price of the various i1 packages.
