Hey guys,
We have just begun laminating our canvas prints and they are looking great. We just expanded our studio and took over the room next door and moved the printer so I was going to reprofile our whole media collection in the new enviroment. Anyways, I was wondering what the proper process for profiling media that will eventually be laminated is. I would imagine it goes like this? Unlaminated ---------------- 1. ink restrictions 2. calibration (linearization) 3. ink limits 4.Print icc charts Laminate ---------- 4.Read icc charts and build icc. I wonder if reading and building the icc after the laminate makes much of a difference. I am sure its ideal to do it, but do you think it changes much?

just depends on how much the lam shifts the color. Most of our lams don't really warrant the extra effort. Avery DOL 1000 requires it to get anything close to grey balance.

In onyx, I have always used the icc option "ultra accuracy with linearization". I just realized that this probably screws my icc up a bit.
Since I did the original linearization pre-lamination, and I will always be doing re-linearizations in the future unlaminated, wont including linearization with the laminated icc swatches screw that up? |

I believe the 'with linearization' part just adds some patches to the set that are used to correct for inconsistent printing across the area. it should not be needed if all has gone well to that point and your printer is behaving well.
If you do go that route, it shouldn't cause any problems either.

I didn't want to have to reprint/relaminate all those patches. Ty. |
