Default Software wanted

I am just getting into cutting vinyl. I have a Roland PNC-1000 (given to me). What would be a good basic software to get to do basic cutting? Nothing fancy or expensive, but will get the job done. Any downloadable software? Don't want to spend a lot of $$$ to start out with. Anyone have any for sale??

How much exactly are you looking to spend?

Is there anything out there to start out with that can be used for cutting only (not printing/cutting) for under $500?

I don't know anything about this one, but I found this for $495
http://www.beacongraphics.com/ultra-flex-express.html

I also know that my dealer often has some used versions of Gerber Omega CS that he sells for cheap. Our sandblaster we use got a copy of it from him for I think $300, but he also bought a plotter, so he may have got a deal.

I can ask to see if he has any and get a quote if you like.

CoCut std can be had for that, but I'd personally advocate going for the Pro as it has some very useful functions beyond the std version.

I have an exacto knife with the soft-grip. It will do anything you want.

I tried SignCut X2 and it was pretty good. If I didn't have CoCut Pro I would have licensed it. I say licensed because you pay for one month/three months/one year/three years.

You can cut right from Corel Draw or Illustrator if you download the right drivers from one of Roland's websites.
A lot of sign makers use Corel, it's a very powerful program for your money.
