We have both Eye One and Xrite with both profiling bundles. We have invested alot of time and $$ in color managment. So I understand wher your going with your reply. However most match proofs are glossy, Grand format outputs are uncoated, The gloss sheen of matchprint is not an accurate read. Throw in the fact we usually have the same client utilizing different output
devices (LightJets are RGB photo, 4/C jv3 prints, flatbed UV 4/C direct prints).
They all have to match.... We rely on profiles per media and print mode and reading the output devices color gamut. 90% of our workflow is in RGB to get the broadest color gamut. All of our print rooms have 3 way lighting so you can view outputs either in regular lighting, Flouresent lighting or natural lighting 5000k. You would be amazed at what a difference the different lighting environments change the color.

I could go on for hours about this stuff. Making quality prints is what we all do. The color management is an evolving science and technology that amazes me.
