We have an 8100 in our shop. It isn't much different than the 8000.

I've printed on 18# Transbond. That worked just fine, but it was for site plans and architechural drawings, not a lot of ink coverage.

The transbond was made for ink jet though, so it was supposed to work.

Have you tried loading it to see if it jams or wrinkles when the machine first sets itself to new media? I'd set it for CAD tracing paper and see.
