full disclosure - i don't use or know corel at all. I use ai every day and have gotten quite used to it.
Sounds to me like corel is less $$$ and still fully capable...except that +90% of the industry uses adobe products exclusively. So then you seem to need a copy of ai anyway. Might as well just learn ai and follow along with the masses.
