i1 proof will get the job done nicely. Profilemaker is the full boat, mac daddy suite of 4 applications that allows you to go wild about every little detail. For most folks it's overkill and the i1 proof will make you a very nice profile without a lot of fluff.
What you're really going to need is some knowledge on the process of making a media profile. Either from your own trial/error and asking questions or hire someone to walk you through it and explain the how and why of each step.
Just having a toolbox doesn't make me able to build a house. In fact i can hardly make a box.
