try having your printer print some color stripes for a couple of inches before the print starts. Most RIPs have these available to be turned on side, both sides, or both sides and horizontally before the print.

If your RIP doesn't have this, look for it within your printer. Many have them there. This way the heads will fire for a while and purge/warmup before your print starts.

Worse case, print a black, 4 color bar before your actual job.
